*******Dear Friends

We think everyone must heared about the earthquake happened on 12th of May in Wenchuan county, Sichuan Province. It brought a lot of damages, especially for the people who live in or around the epicentre. Millions of people lost their normal lives and it is really hard to endure.

Recently, some of our guests called us to ask if Chengdu is safe to come, and others just skipped or cancelled to come to Chengdu (or Sichuan). Here one thing we would like to announce to everyone is that you are safe at Chengdu, so please come to visit us! We luckily did not affected by this earthquake, and except some local people who are afraid to sleep in their apartment buildings are sleeping in tents in parks, but the city is operating properly. You are able to visit Panda Center, Mt. Emei, Leshan Grand Buddha, Yibin Bamboo Forest and so on.

Now the most important aim for the victims in disaster area, is to forget about this tragedy as early as possible and get back their calm and peaceful lives. All the people who is involved with tourism in Sichuan, are very much concerned about their future. They have spent 10-20 years to earn enough money to built their houses but destroyed suddenly in one minute. They are worried their lives retrograde and struggle with poverty as before.

If your friends want to come but going to skip Sichuan because of the disaster, we really hope that you can tell them to get the accurate information from us and judge if it's worth to visit. Please do not just be away from Sichuan. Disaster area is recovering everyday, and situation is changing all the time. Also, if there is anyone interested in volunteer work, we know some groups who are in actions and we try our best to make it work out.

If there is anything we can do, please feel free to contact us.

Best Wishes

Sim and Maki

P.S. According to the latest notice, Tibet is going to be open for foreigners in the end of June after the torch relay finished in Lhasa.

Dear all:
Thank you for 4 years' of attention and encouragement to Sim's Cozy Guesthouse. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have now moved to Sim's Cozy Garden Hostel. Sim(Singaporean) and Maki(Japanese) have built up a new "home away from home" for fellow backpackers. After having been travellers for many years and with 4 years' experience running Sim's Cozy Guesthouse, we think we understand more about backpackers' needs. The location and the facilities at Sim's Cozy Garden Hostel, not to mention our and our staff's warmth, show that we truly know something about being on the road.

From the main road in front of Sim's Cozy Garden Hostel, there are buses going directly to the Panda Breeding Center, Chengdu Railway Station, Chengdu Tourist Transport Center (XinNanMen Bus Terminal) and many other tourist sites in Chengdu. On top of that: many banks (including Bank of China), a post office, hospitals, supermarkets and many local restaurants are within easy walking distance.

Sim could not create an atmosphere, which we call "Sim's Magic", without a peaceful garden. This magic will help you to relax and enjoy your stay; many people stay longer than expected. Sim's Cozy Garden Hostel has plenty of room where you'll be able to socialize with fellow travellers. We have a Chinese country style garden with a cottage made of wood and straw right above a pond, surrounded by a small river filled with fish and next to a small waterfall. You will also find an area with bamboo folding chairs where you can relax and read or exchange books. Families travelling with children will enjoy the carefully designed playground with some lovely pets.

We have all the facilities you wish to find in a guesthouse, and all of them are well designed. We have a cozy movie room with wide screen TV and DVD player, a bar to meet new friends and a family style restaurant serving both Chinese and Western food.
We also provide a large covered area for your laundry and, of course, an Internet area with free wireless connection. Our rooms are efficiently designed with plenty of storage space for your luggage. All of the dorm rooms have private toilet and shower, and there are shelves beside every bed.

Last but not least, the staff are always friendly and considerate to travellers. We always try our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
