Good movies in Madrid at the Filmoteca.
The ideal place in Madrid for movie lovers is the "filmoteca". Located in the center of the city and offering a varied program in which you can find a wide range of films, from the classics to new releases.
Filomteca has three show rooms, a coffee shop and a bookstore. It is open Tuesdays through Sundays and closes on Mondays. The first show starts at 5:30 p.m., with the last usually starting around 10 p.m. Some movies are shown twice monthly for the movie goers who can't make it at an specific time or date. The movies are not dubbed (unlike most movies in Spain), and tickets are 1.35 euros (a steal when compare to US movie prices!). You can also buy a 10 session pass for 10.22 euros. Free monthly programs are available.
The bookstore is open from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and you can find a large selection of topics related to the movie industry.
The coffee shop opens at 2 p.m. and closes at 12 p.m. It offers a lunch menu from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Getting to Filmoteca is easy since it's very well known. If you go by subway, get off on Anton Martin (line 1). The street is Magdalena # 10, right in the heart of Lavapies.
