The Lowdown on Granada, Spain.

Teterias - A Swig of Granada.
One of the cultural highlights of Granada is its significant Moor-Arab influence. One of the things that the Moors brought was their love of tea in all kinds of forms. You can try these teas at establishments called Teterias. One of the best places to go for this is on a street in the Lower Albaicin called Calderria Nueva. Walk into one of the places there, relax on a soft velvet couch and smoke a hooka. Of course, the tea comes first in these places.
One you definitely have to try is Moroccan tea, which is a nice blend of gunpowder tea and yerbabuena (mint). Delicious. Another favorite is Pakistani tea, which is very similar to Chai without the sugar, although you are free to add as much sugar as you want. One I tried last weekend was called Noches Al-Andaluz. Couldn't put my finger on the exact flavors, although I know that they put rose petals in the kettle for a wonderful flavor. Finally, these teterias most definitely have an array of fruit teas, from raspberries to lemons. If tea is not your thing, and you maintain your coffee personality, there's "cafe" for you robust ones.
