Gelateria Delle Moline.

What would Italia be without a cup of melting gelato between your fingers as you pass through crowded streets, dodge speeding cars and scooters, try and understand a city that pauses life for a siesta between 1 and 4 so you're left with nothing to do but go home and eat?

Bologna is known in Italia as 'Bologna la grossa' (Bologna the fat), and it's easy to see why. Every street is crowded with cafes, bars, restaurants, osterias, all clamoring for attention with their displays of fresh pastas and paninis.

If Gelato is on your list for the afternoon, and you find yourself wandering the red streets of Bologna (red for its brick and its leftist tendencies) one place to make your way to is the "Gelateria delle Moline", on Via Delle Moline. This little gelateria stocks over twenty flavors, and each and everyone is worth trying.

The Frutti di bosco (berry) gelato is bursting with currants, blackberries and raspberries, each with their own taste, the Panna (whipped cream) tastes like a cup of fresh, light, fluffy whipped cream, the Ciliegia (cherry) seems to be made solely of fresh cherries, with pieces still mixed through, the Crema (cream) tastes like frozen creme brule, and, if you're looking for something a little more exotic try the Primavera (literally "springtime", but it includes vanilla, raspberries and peanut butter) or the Zabaione (an Italian desert—normally in cake form, but here it is made into a light and fluffy gelato.)

You can take your cup or cone of gelato along on your further meanderings, or sit at one of the tables set up for customers on the sidewalk. Whichever way you choose to enjoy your gelato, Gelateria delle Moline is a place not to be missed!
