Clown and Bard Hostel: Its Only Merit is Being Cheap!
I spent 3 nights at this hostel and I do not highly recommend it. I was going to stay 4, but I hate to say that the hostel played a part in shortening my stay.
First of all, it's not ideally located. There are tram and metro stops nearby but I know of other hostels that can be found within walking distance of Prague's major attractions.
After staggering up a GIANT hill from the tram stop, I was rudely greeted by the one man on staff at the time and told to wait until he was done with whatever he was doing. Fair enough, I thought, but he proceeded to be rude when checking me in.
Even worse was the dorm room. It's spacious for having 30 beds crammed into an attic on the 6th floor of an elevator-less building. Perhaps if I would have stayed in a room containing less than 30 inconsiderate, drunken, noisy heathens, I would would have had a different experience.
As the title mentions, the only merit of this place is the 8 euro a night price for the dorm room. I went to Clown and Bard thinking it was going to be wonderful, having read rave reviews, but of the dozen or so hostels I have stayed at so far, I have never had anything bad to say until now.
