The Road from Hell no longer - Route 7 Kratie to Stung Treng
I am very happy to report that the infamous National Route number 7 north from Kratie to Stung Treng is in the process of being renovated.
The trip, which used to take a grueling 7 hours on a road that in a past life was asphalt, is being widened and graded, hopefully in preparation for something more than remaining a graded dirt road, but it is already orders of magnitutde better than a year ago.
The road is still quite bad for about 25 kilometers out of Kratie, but that soon gives way to the work in progress. The trip (during the dry season) from Kratie to Stung Treng can now be made in just over 3 hours.
