The Lowdown on Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
March 24th, 2006 | The lowdown by Gordon Candelin
Independence Beach.
Independence beach, frequented primarily by local Cambodian families, is a long thin stretch of sand with not much of a shore to speak of at high tide.
The beach is lined with shady trees and small wooden family-run restaurants that serve Khmer staples as well as some basic 'western food'.
There are tables, chairs and hammocks to chill out in, but apart from eating, there's not much else to do here except perhaps to have a dip and getting to know the locals.
