The Lowdown on Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Mama Restaurant
There isn't much to distinguish Mama's from any of the other chinese-apartment / restaurant / shop / dental clinic / etc, but its anonymity is one of it's endearing qualities.
Just a few minutes walk from Orussey Market, and easy to miss unless you know what to look for (a board at waist-level with 'Mama' written on it, and usually a few foreigners sitting at the tables) Mama's Restaurant is a great break from the typical soupy-noodles with bits of meat fare.
Mama's is a French-Khmer place, with some of the best vegetarian curry in town and some truly delicious and cheap french food. There is a menu, but have a look on the wobbly plastic table inside for some of their specialties - beef ragu, vegetarian curry, chicken au gratin - have a filling lunch on the street for around $1.50.
