The Lowdown on Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Asia Europe Bakery
I don't remember how exactly I became addicted to Asia Europe Bakery. Maybe it was the coffee. It's good. And cheap. 70 cents to be exact.
The baked goods run the gamut from the okay (croissants and pain au chocolat) to the bizarre (hot dog pizzas on flat donuts). The Staff aren't particularly friendly, and the decor is sterile white tiles with mirrors and faded posters of bread taped here and there.
But it's what's happening outside which counts.
Asia Europe Bakery is a strangely relaxing place to watch life zip by on motos, cars and cyclos. Maybe it's the 'Europe' part of the name. And the fact that there is no door, and no windows - just a wide open space from one end of the bakery to the other, making it easy to people watch at the closest thing to a sidewalk café in Phnom Penh.
