Getting to Banlung

While route number 7 from Kratie to Stung Treng is thankfully being upgraded, in the meantime, what used to be a lovely graded dirt road from the junction of route numbers and 78 (east to the Vietnamese border through Banlung) has turned into a bone smashing 5 hour trip.

There is not much to do but grin and bear it, unless you avoid the trip altogether and fly directly from Phnom Penh ($105 return, 3 days a week).

Note: During the rainy season, it's advisable to go by 4WD, as the usual passenger vans and Camrys will probably have a much more difficult time of things.
