Urban Lowdown. There, now

That was the idea anyway, back in 2002. We thought we'd create a site that would have up to date travel information written by those lucky men and women who go on study abroad (or Erasmus, in Europe) every year. We wanted a site written not by well-meaning (but often ill-informed) casual tourists, but by those willing to take the plunge and stick it out for 6 months - or more, and really get to know a place.

The University of California Los Angeles Education Abroad Office (EAP) thought it was a great idea too, and provided useful direction on how to make Urban Lowdown a place that would serve the university community in addition to those looking for the best place to chill out in Cambodia.

Since 2002, Urban Lowdown has grown and shrunk, trying to keep up with the development of blogs and social networking sites. The site is no longer written soley by study abroad students, but expat english teachers, professional vagabonds and other travelers who have managed to end up somewhere far away.

Urban Lowdown has recently re-launched to make the whole experience more enjoyable. If the content looks a little dated, well that's because we have limited resources and can only devote ourselves to one or two things at a time. This site was created with much love and attention by a few dedicated individuals.
